Hibbing Dylan Project Creates Arts Access

Hibbign Dylan Project

Since Bob Dylan was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literaturethis past fall, a group of people in Hibbing have been focused on creating public access to the arts  in Bob Dylan's honor.

The Hibbing Dylan Project ultimately seeks to install a large scale public art experience to honor Mr. Dylan.  That goal has inspired grassroots fundraising and has led the committee to creating many ways to reach out and pay it forward in Hibbing.  As they raise funds with Bingo nights and musical events, they've also collaborated with downtown businesses  in order to create a more vibrant downtown with a public art mural project.     The Hibbing Dylan Project is currently accepting submissionsfor the downtown Hibbing mural project and interested parties can find out more on their Facebook page.  Deadline for submissions is March 31.   Here is a link to their Call for Artists

April 1, the same day Dylan takes the stage in Sweden in order accept his Nobel Prize for Literature, the Hibbing Dylan Project will host Hobo Revival in celebration of Hibbing's most well-known export.  The party will be at the Crown Ballroom in Hibbing.  Proceeds from the event will be saved for the large scale public art project.

Hibbing Dylan Project co-chairperson Katie Fredeen spoke with KAXE/KBXE about the group's plans, upcoming events and hopes to positively impact the Hibbing community with art!
