Local Foods: Tracey Srock & the Ready, Set, Grow! Garden Expo

The snow is melting! All of this exposed ground inspires visions of gardens in the minds of many northern Minnesotans.   Tracey Srock of Deerwood is a master gardenerwho doesn't let the season of winter interfere with her garden crop production.   She's been growing lettuce all winter, indoors!  She's teaching two classes, "Growing Lettuce and Salad Greens" and "New Adventures in Vegetable Gardening"  at the Ready, Set Grow! Garden Expo in Brainerd this Saturday.  Tracey spoke with us about the garden expo, indoor gardening, and her gardening plans for this summer.

The Crow Wing County Ready, Set, Grow! Garden Expo will be this Saturday from 8 - 3:30 at the Brainerd High School.  A list of 20 classes  will be held throughout the day including coursework on fruits, perennials,  gardening for cooking, landscaping with trees, planting butterfly friendly spaces,  growing salad greens, and vegetables, herbs, shade gardens and more.

For more information, connect with theCrow Wing Master Gardeners on their websiteor Facebook pageor reach out to the University of Minnesota Extension office.
