A diamante is a poetic form that has one
word in the first line, two words in the
second, etc. I don’t know if the original
format only goes to 5 words in the 5th
line or not.
Then you go
back to 4 3, 2, 1.
This is where
the above came from --

Information for Karin McAuley
Karin McAuley has lived in Coleraine since
the summer of 2004, moving here from the San
Francisco Bay area with her husband and
daughter.
Why, you ask?
Well, it was
time and extended family live in the area.
When she was
very young, Karin and her parents moved to
Marcell where her dad worked with the US
Forest Service.
Both parents
were from Northern Minnesota and her sister
was born in Bigfork. In addition to living
in Minnesota, Karin lived in Michigan’s
Upper Peninsula, North Dakota and both
Southern and Northern California.
Karin’s interests are sewing garments,
quilting (but has yet to make a quilt),
reading, working with kids, traveling with
her family and friends, gardening, and other
things depending on the time of year.
Karin is
currently a member of Loon Country Quilters
and is a past member of Itasca Community
Chorus.
Karin has recently gone back to working
public education and has substitute taught
all grade levels in the area schools.
She hopes to
complete the licensing requirement for
full-time teaching by the end of this school
year having completed her BS-Teaching degree
at Bemidji in 1976 and done many things in
between times before returning here.
Her passions
are working with Indian Education, special
education and water quality issues.
Karin and her husband love to shop at
Bemidji Woolen Mills and always find great
deals on good quality clothing even if they
didn’t intend to buy anything!
Her favorite
restaurants are Tutto Bene in Bemidji, India
Palace in Duluth and Forest Lake Steak House
in Grand Rapids, always adding to list of
favorites as time goes on.
Karin has been a member of KAXE for
approximately 4 years and volunteers to
answer phones during pledge drives.
Things Karin
really likes about KAXE are the location of
the radio station buildings -
She says,
“Living in California, you never would have
found the public radio station so
accessible, much less
get to know
the people personally†– and the access that
the public has to the station and staff.
Karin says that
moving from California to Minnesota is a big
culture change and listening to the variety
of shows, particularly “Green Cheese,†plus
talk and music, helped her to relearn this
culture.
