Marshall Helmberger

Today we talked with Marshall Helmberger of the Timberjay newspaper on development hiccups in Tower, MN and icy gravel roads as well as Congressman Nolan and Congressman Emmer and next steps toward copper nickel mining on the Iron Range and BWCA.

This week Marshall addresses the New York Times Magazine article "In Northern Minnesota Two Economies Square Off:  Mining vs Wilderness".

Marshall also talks about an editorial he wrote this week about splintering of the District 8 DFL party

Each Friday morning Marshall Helmberger tells us some of the stories his newspaper, the Timberjay, has been covering.  The lead story this week is about a man from Nett Lake who found his grandfather's manuscript and published it.  It's called "Savage Ancestors" and was probably written in the 1930s.  Marshall also tells us about the Governor Mark Dayton's trip to Ely to talk water quality.
