Sometimes translation isn’t about knowing the vocabulary.  Matthew Miltich tells a story about a bus ride that taught him something about being a foreigner, on his trip to his family homeland in Dalmatia.  Matthew is a writer and musician living in rural Itasca County, and is a frequent contributor to to Stay Human, Sundays at 9 pm, music and spoken word for spirit and courage.

Boomers

Apr 23, 2017

Volunteer producer Michael Goldberg reached a milestone recently.  When he came of age, what was then called the “generation gap” was something he was proud of.  Now that he’s on the other side of it, he’s not so sure.  This essay was broadcast on his weekly program, Stay Human, Sundays at 10 pm.

When he’s not gigging with Clearwater Hot Club, Matthew Miltich can be found in his natural habitat, his home on Clearwater Lake.  In this essay, he considers how his style of dress reflects his life, and how it affects his outlook.  Matthew is a regular contributor to Stay Human, Sundays at 10 pm, music and spoken word for courage and spirit.

Sandy Cameron of Deer River recently visited Cuba, but stayed away from the tours and tourists.  He and his wife stayed in private homes, including one in Cenguey.  Their hosts were black, and in their living room they had this 3-foot high wood carving, which Sandy says tells us something of the real Cuba.  He talked with Michael Goldberg, on the travel segment of weekly program Stay Human, Sundays at 10 pm.

Frieda Hall

Scott and Frieda Hall went to VietNam in March 2017, with a tour organized by Itasca Community College.  Frieda took this photo while they glided through the Mekong Delta.  A high school social studies teacher, Frieda talks with Michael Goldberg about some of what she learned on the trip, seeing things from the other side.

This conversation was broadcast on Stay Human, conversation, music and essays for spirit and courage, Sundays at 10 pm.
