Female Playwright Festival This Sunday in Bemidji

Jan 20, 2018

The Female Playwrights ONSTAGE Festival is a celebration organized by Little Black Dress, INK.  Little Black Dress, INK conducts a yearly theatrical writing contest and finalists from that contest are showcased in theater festivals across the country.  Collaborating with local theater groups, the  original works created by women are portrayed onstage, in multiple cities, on the same day.  This Sunday, International Women's Voices Day, Bemidji State University and Mask and Rose Theater Collective will co-host the festival in Bemidji. Stages in Las Angeles, CA, Milwaukee, WI, Phoenix, AZ, Prescott, AZ, Sedona, AZ,  Magnolia, AR, and Columbus, OH will also be celebrating these female playwrights.

The theme for this year's contest was Volume Control.  Season Ellison is faculty at Bemidji State and co-organizer of the event.  She spoke on the morning show about what to expect at this unique and intimate theatrical experience.

The Female Playwrights ONSTAGE Festival: Volume Control will take place at the Black Box Theater in the Bangsberg Fine Arts Building on the Bemidji State University at 2pm this Sunday.
